"These paintings are a celebration of the diversity and beauty of South Africa, and of the deep appreciation I have come to feel for living in this place on the southern tip of Africa.
At a time when so much of the world can feel increasingly complicated and uncertain, I have found myself looking more closely at what is immediately around me: the dramatic bush summer skies, the incredible light of the Karoo, and the beaches and sunsets of the Cape. These landscapes have become reminders of the richness that exists in simply paying attention to where we are.
The paintings grew from this renewed sense of appreciation. They are not an attempt to escape the world, but rather to pause within it - to be present in a particular place and to recognise the effect that our surroundings can have on us. There is a relationship between the spaces we inhabit and our inner lives; nature can offer a sense of stillness, perspective and renewal.
Each painting is a response to a particular landscape and to the feeling it evokes. Together, they reflect my own experience of this corner of the earth: a place of extraordinary natural beauty, complexity and possibility, and one that continues to offer a sense of connection, stillness and renewal." - Meyer, 2026
