El Anatsui is internationally recognised as Africa’s most celebrated artist.

This extraordinary work, which is unique in its subject, was commissioned in 1994 to celebrate the end of Apartheid in South Africa. It depicts the ancestors of the people, the armed soldiers of uMkhonto we Sizwe, and the liberated nation.
