In Terrarium, each painting is a world of its own – with its own laws of nature and floral kingdoms.

She has delicately balanced bold brush strokes with meticulous detailing to reveal worlds filled with delicate light and wondrous plants. There is an extraordinary beauty to the works, but that does not come at the expense of her sometimes humorous world-making, where fingerflowers, huggers or ticklers can be found.

Lee-Ann’s process is an energetic one, working bravely and intuitively, each painting goes through three or four compositional iterations, with Heath discovering as she works the right balance of colour, line, and form. In this new body she continues to explore her love of thick impasto paint, and these luscious layers give a dynamism to the work that is incredibly tactile.

This exhibition is an invitation to step into Lee-Ann’s multiverse of 12 self-contained wonderlands.
